NOTICE OF ELECTION

2025 CITY/SCHOOL ELECTION AND SAMPLE BALLOT

 

Public Notice is hereby given to the eligible electors of Bremer County, State of Iowa, pursuant to Chapter 49.53 of the Code of Iowa, that the 2025 CITY/SCHOOL ELECTION will be held in the designated election precincts of Bremer County, Iowa, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

 

I hereby certify that the following are the office races, candidates, and Public Measures that will appear on the ballots in the specific jurisdictions. All ballots will contain school offices. Ballots for voters residing inside the corporate limits of a city will contain city offices in addition to school offices. Some ballots will contain community college offices.

 

City of Plainfield Public Measure BW

Summary: To authorize a change in the use of the one percent (1%) local sales and services tax in the City of Plainfield effective July 1, 2026.

The use of the one percent (1%) local option sales and services tax shall be changed in the City of Plainfield effective July 1, 2026.

PROPOSED USES OF THE TAX:

If the change is approved, revenues from the sales and services tax shall be allocated as follows:

0% for property tax relief.

The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are:

100%

for capital equipment purchases and repairs, street, water, sewer, and other capital improvement and maintenance projects.

CURRENT USES OF THE TAX:

Revenues from the sales and services tax are currently allocated as follows:

100% for infrastructure

 

Dunkerton Community School District Public Measure BL

Shall the Board of Directors of the Dunkerton Community School District, in the County of Black Hawk, State of Iowa, change the method of election of its five (5) directors, from all five (5) directors elected as residents, respectively, of five (5) single-member director districts with the directors elected by the vote of the electors of the entire school district pursuant to Iowa Code Section 275.12(2)(b), to all five (5) directors elected at large from the entire district elected by the vote of the electors of the entire school district pursuant to Iowa Code Section 275.12(2)(a)?

 

Sumner-Fredericksburg Community School District Public Measure BX

Shall the Board of Directors of the Sumner-Fredericksburg Community School District in the Counties of Bremer, Chickasaw, and Fayette, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $16,250,000, together with proceeds of School Infrastructure Sales, Services, and Use Tax Revenue Bonds, to construct, build, furnish, and equip additions to the High School and Middle School buildings and to remodel, repair, and improve those existing buildings, including HVAC, playground, parking, and site improvements, and for demolition of Durant Elementary?

Any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter’s union.

 

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by NOON on Monday, November 10, 2025.  Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification.  For additional information about providing proof of identity and/or residence visit: https://sos.iowa.gov/voterid or phone 319-352-0340.
